We have to be having a boy, right?
I think a lot of men really wish to have a boy, and I do too, but I would like to have a girl too. I am just looking forward to being a dad. However, Renee, Kim and Erin all had or is having a girl. Do we need to throw in another girl to the mix or shake it up with a boy? If we have a girl then we may have to send them to Edinboro to be Fighting Scots. If we have a boy he could probably play with their girls and only improve his athletic abilities. I heard Embry has great hands, quick decision making skills and is sometimes found with her arms up. Madeline was born an outside hitter. I just know it. Too soon to recognize the intesity. And Delainey is already breaking records (for height) in the womb.
I always thought it was funny that you guys were in the PSAC but now it is taking on a whole different meaning. Housing our babies for 9 months and getting them ready for the real world. So true, so deep in meaning!
Big ups to my sister and Thor for sending our first bib with the text, "Somebody loves me in Rhode Island." Fantastic stuff.
We slept in our new and improved bed last night for the first time. We got a 3 inch memory foam mattress topper. It is really nice. Pretty much hugs your body. We think it will be great for Marissa as we get closer to September.
Well gotta go to church. Saying my prayers for a healthy baby BOY!
Here's to a good week. Later.

Into the Double Digits!
Good news we are officially one-fourth of the way to welcoming Baby Beyer into the world. It is crazy to think in a few short weeks I will be into my second trimester. One of the most exciting things that has happened since I hit 10 weeks is my digestive system getting closer to normal (you guessed it...I no longer have to be jealous when Joe goes to the bathroom)!
We have our second doctors appointment this Wed, March 2nd. Since it is the second check up and the doctor will only do some routine testing (blood pressure, weight, some blood work, etc.) my mom is going to go with me instead of Joe. He has graciously declined saying as long as he isn't missing an ultrasound there is probably no reason to see me put my legs in the stirrups again (since ultimately he will have several more opportunities in the coming months). I am excited to have my mom come and meet the doctor. About 2 weeks later we will have our third appointment at which time I will be between 12-13 weeks and we will have another ultrasound. We are very excited about this as it will be the first time we will be able to see the baby really developing.
We shared our good news with my best friend Jen and her fiance Cory on Friday. As several of you know I will be Jen's matron of honor less than 2 weeks after Baby Beyer arrives. Jen and Cory were both so excited (and quite caught off guard when we told them)! Jen and I both looked at each other in agreement that altering my dress to my stomach is most likely doable...altering to fit my boobs....well we will just have to deal with that when the time comes! Luckily I know an awesome seamstress.
My clothes are still fitting. I bought 2 belly bands in the event I awoke one more and was unable to zip my pants. At least for now it seems I am dodging the bullet...at least for a few more days. My goal continues to be work out as much as my body will allow (within reason of course). I am constantly reminded by my wonderful friend (and mommy to be) Erin that if my body does not feel up to it that rest is best. Erin, thank you for your words of encouragement and being my GURU of what to expect during pregnancy! I am glad I don't have to go through this alone.
I will post again after our appointment on Wednesday!

Sunday Morning Dad Scribbles
Welcome to the first edition of "Sunday Morning Dad Scribbles." Paternity at its finest!
I will occasionally post a few thoughts, funny stories, pictures, and some interactive polls for your blogging enjoyment.
My first story comes from February 1 (our first doctor's appointment and ultrasound). The University was closed due to the crazy WINTER STORM of 2011. I left early to pick up Marissa so we wouldn't be late, as you all know Marissa and I are very anal/punctual people. So I had some time to kill in the parking lot before Marissa came out of work. I slid open my EVO and started surfing the web. I googled "questions guys ask during pregnancy" in order to prepare myself for our appointment with Doc. The first thing I saw on the web-site http://www.paternityangel.com/ was not to be shocked when your wife puts her feet in stirrups and the doctor begins his/her exam. I'm glad I was prepared. I got the notebook out and pretended to take notes of what the doctor was saying. As my eyes were fixed on the piece of paper, I doodled and made a few lines. The doctor left for Marissa to get dressed and it was over. I remarked, "do you have to do this all the time?" Marissa laughed. :)
Here is a picture of Baby Beyer at 5-6 weeks. He/She's just a little guy! I thought it looked like a blueberry. We even got to see the heart beat at 107 beats per minute. Oh yeah, and I beat a few levels in Angry Birds in the waiting room!

The white dot is Baby Beyer.
Speaking of "Baby Beyer" I have a pet name for the blueberry and Marissa doesn't like it and won't let me put it on here, you know how she is :)! So I thought I would open it up for comments. Throw out a guess for what I call the bean and throw out some ideas of your own.
Lastly, one thing paternity angel didn't prepare me for was the amount of excitement and love I already have for ******* ***. I find myself putting my hand on Marissa's stomach at night and saying good night. Needless to say we both are looking forward to this next step in our lives.
And how come everytime I poop Marissa smirks, "show off"?!!!!!
Much Love...
Our First Gift
We received our first gift for Baby Beyer this morning. Two Ohio State onezies from our wonderful neighbors Lauren and Steve. We told them Friday night while we were at dinner. We hang out with them a lot and as of late I have not been drinking any wine (Riesling to be exact) which is a common love of myself and Lauren. Steve and Lauren are having a Mardi Gras Party in two weeks and we figured with all of festivities going on that we needed to clue them in as to help deter the other neighbors from the group pressure to drink.
Joe is especially excited about the red one with the little football guy! Go Bucks!

Feeling Pregnant
I have been very fortunate the first 8 weeks to be pregnant, but not necessarily feel pregnant (other than minimal symptoms). However, starting yesterday the nausea started and the feeling tired for longer periods of time wacked me in the face. Luckily, I bought a box of saltines on Saturday so I have been making friends with them the past day and a half. The good news is that my work clothes (particularly my pants) still fit (at least for the time being), although I don't think it will be lasting a lot longer.
Our next appointment is on March 2nd. My goal is still to wait until around week 12-13 to tell work and the rest of our family shortly before depending on how our second ultra sounds goes (sometime in mid March). It's about that time when my body wants to lay down so that is all for now!

My First Blog
Thank you to my wonderful friend Erin for helping me create this blog! I know that this is the first of many things you will be helping me with as we both go through our pregnancy journey.
This blog will serve as a journal for the triumps and challenges to come as we get ready for Baby Beyer's arrival in September...let the fun begin!
